Manufacturing continues to be one of Greensville County’s largest industry sectors, although healthcare, retail trade, and education continue to lead the region as a whole. Cost of labor is significantly lower in the Greensville area, with average annual wages of just under $31,000 compared to Virginia’s annual average of just over $50,000.

In recent years, unemployment rates in both the region and Greensville County have averaged higher than in other parts of Virginia and the United States at 7.5 percent, compared to 4.8 percent in Virginia and 6.5 percent for the nation.
